There is a rhythm to our days that we rarely stop long enough to notice. We wake, we push, we strive, and we do it all over again. We wrap ourselves around careers, achievements, milestones, and ambitions so tightly that we forget whose we are and who we belong to. But what if this weekend, during this beautiful pause, it became the moment you chose to notice God’s goodness?
God did not create us to chase all the earthly things. He did not breathe life into us so we could spend every waking moment climbing ladders and collecting accolades.

He created us because He wants a relationship with us, and He wants us to adopt that same desire — a longing for Him that outweighs every title, every trophy, and every milestone we could ever reach.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
His plans were never about the hustle. His plans have always been about the heart.
Yet somehow, the strengths He gave us become weapons we use in battles He never intended. We find ourselves fighting with career colleagues, competing with classmates, measuring ourselves against siblings, keeping score with spouses, and even pushing back against the very parents who raised us — all so we can be better, do more, and attain whatever goals we have set our sights on.
We take the gifts God placed in our hands and use them to grasp at things that were never meant to satisfy us.
1 John 2:15-17 speaks to this tension: “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.”
That is not a warning meant to shame us. It is an invitation to redirect our gaze.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Notice God’s goodness!
Think about the people in your life right now — the ones you have been competing with or comparing yourself to.
What if they are not your opponents at all? What if they are part of the goodness God has placed around you? The colleague who challenges you may be sharpening you. The sibling who frustrates you may be teaching you patience. The spouse who sees things differently may be stretching your capacity to love.
Proverbs 27:17 tells us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
When we stop seeing others as obstacles and start seeing them as part of God’s divine design, everything shifts.
This holiday weekend, let us not only rest from work but rest from the striving. Let us take a breath deep enough to feel the peace that has been waiting for us all along.
Psalm 46:10 whispers, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness is where we hear Him. Stillness is where we remember that we do not have to earn His love, fight for His attention, or prove our worth. He already decided we were worth everything.
Rest is not laziness. Rest is worship. It is a declaration that we trust God enough to stop doing and simply start being — being present, being grateful, being aware of the goodness that surrounds us even in ordinary moments. The sunrise you almost missed. The laughter of someone you love. The fact that your lungs filled with air this morning without you having to think about it. That is His goodness. It has been there all along, waiting to be noticed.
So as you move through this weekend, let your heart be a little softer and your grip on the world a little looser. You were not made for the race. You were made for the relationship. And when you slow down long enough to notice God’s goodness, you will find that He has been noticing you all along.
“Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!“
