We live in a world wired for distraction. Endless notifications, the addictive drag of social media feeds, and the constant buzz of other people’s highlight reels can pull us from what truly matters. We wonder why we feel stuck—trapped in what has happened, fixated on what didn’t work, and overwhelmed by the noise of life. But here’s the brutal truth: if the past leads your present, you’re not moving forward—you’re treading water. Put the phone down.
Stop scrolling through other people’s curated moments, the endless barrage of “perfect” lives.

These images and updates aren’t your story. They’re a detour. They distract you from the one GPS signal that matters — your own sense of direction.
Remember those early Garmin GPS devices? Back then, missing a turn meant a frustrating, slow reroute. You often had to pull over, let the device reset before finding a new path. It wasn’t instant, but it taught one unmistakable lesson: you can’t keep moving forward if you don’t take a pause to recalibrate. Life is the same. If you’re constantly looking side to side, comparing and doubting, the present moment—the place where progress actually happens—slips through your fingers.
So, how do you reroute and refocus on where you’re truly headed?
Reconnect with who you are and who you are becoming.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Reconnect with yourself!
If you are one who is not willing to know yourself, how can you know others?
Here are three ways to reconnect with yourself and the direction you’re becoming:
- Silence the noise – unplug regularly.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness is a powerful reset. Unplugging from phones and distractions allows you to listen to the quiet voice inside, to your values and vision. When you remove the noise, clarity emerges. - Focus on one step at a time – ditch multitasking.
Proverbs 4:25 urges us, “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” Focus moves mountains. Don’t let your attention bounce side to side like a shaky GPS. Keep your eyes on your own road, your own next step, no matter how small. - Anchor your identity beyond the past.
Philippians 3:13 reminds us, “One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.” Don’t get stuck replaying mistakes or missed chances. Your past does not own your future. You are becoming, always becoming.
Putting your phone down is not just about disconnecting from technology—it’s about reconnecting with purpose.
“When you stop being a passenger in someone else’s story, you take the wheel of your own.” ~ Kristianne Wargo
The present is where your life unfolds, not in the rewind of failures or the highlight reels of others.
The call is simple but urgent: stop the endless scroll, pull over if you must, then reroute with intention. Your future is waiting on the other side of your focus. Don’t let it slip away because your eyes kept wandering.
Put the phone down. Look ahead. Move forward.
“Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!“
