Are you training too hard too fast? Rest from the holidays or vacations are great for the soul, but so is rest from your fitness regimen. Are you training wrong?
The New Year mentality is all in or nothing. And we push hard to get through the first twelve days. But what about tomorrow?
Our bodies only know the present. It can’t assume what will happen in the future or deal with what’s happened in the past. Your body has the presence to fix or maintain what exists.
Now that is pretty incredible if you ask me. In fact, you and I could learn a few things or two from how our body sees and handles life.
So I want to pause for a moment. After coming off the holidays, usually, the break gives you space to create your now. You can make adjustments more quickly because you’ve had some downtime.
And we use downtime when we take vacations too. However, what about how you handle your training regimen?
Are you one who jumps in and the more pain and discomfort you feel, the better?
Or are you one who decides that you are going to do something, but never take action because everything else gets in the way?
Or are you one who listens to your body and allows yourself to rest just like you were on vacation?
Well, I bet I could win a few million dollars if I was a betting girl. However, there’s no need to bet. Just trust and be honest with yourself instead.
My guess is that you push hard to feel bad in order to know you are doing something for your body. Or the latter, where you have your excuses run your day.
But what if rest could do your body better?
The K.I.S.S. ~ R.E.S.T. your body!
As much as you think going all-in is wise, it might be for your schedule, but not for your body. R.E.S.T. is invaluable to your body and healthy living.
- Recovery starts at the end. Meaning that when you have completed your workout, then how your body is treated is your recovery period. So be diligent at refueling and resting.
- Eagerness to slow down. Listen to your body. If you did too much, give yourself the time to recuperate. Going slow doesn’t mean you are not strong.
- Simplicity is the new win. Don’t overcomplicate your workouts. Do what you can do with a new twist. But listen to your body. And go back to the basics. Fundamentals are there for a reason. Ask the Georgia Bulldogs!
- Timing is everything. You have to be in tune with what you are doing and how you are doing it. Sometimes, you need to speed up or add more weight. Other times, you need to take an extra day off. Do what works for you and don’t worry about the regimen.
No one talks about the injuries gained from pushing too hard and training wrong. All that is wanted are the results!
