Life is filled with so many decisions. Some are easy to make. Others leave us speechless. Then there are those that you just sit and ponder. Got questions?
You are definitely part of the family when it comes to questions. In fact, there are usually more questions than decisions.
It’s estimated that we make 35,000 decisions in a day; choices to do something. That means the average person makes 1 decision every 2 seconds (assuming you sleep 7 hours a day).
Some of those decisions are made without thought. But some require more in depth understanding.
If you are one who wishes you could look at what is and make a decision, life would be easier. Your thoughts would have more clarity. Your focus would be energizing.
But questions stop us. It’s a trigger that more information is needed. Now that amount of information depends on the decision.
- Dinner is simple. You have 3 choices for protein and 2 different vegetables to choose from. No big deal.
- Then you look at a business project. There are so many different facets and factors in making a decision for a project. So it’s going to be a little more confusing and time consuming.
Yet what do we do when we can’t make a decision?
Of course! We question again.
As the questions keep coming, they can keep us from progressing.
Think back in grade school when the teacher would ask a question and want someone to give the answer. Who were you?
- The one to quickly throw up the hand ecstatic to be called on?
- Or the one who would contemplate the answer in your head over and over to make sure you would give the correct answer?
Most of us are the latter of the two…The one who would contemplate and re-examine before answering.
“Questions draw the spotlight!” ~ Kristianne Wargo
Questions draw attention to a particular area; an area of weakness or an area of strength.
- Makes us uncomfortable.
- Makes us self-conscious of what we are doing.
- There’s ramifications of our decisions.
- Makes us second guess.
But today I want you to look at questions differently. I want you to see how beneficial questions are in life, and that they actually keep you moving forward even though you don’t feel like it.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Get answers!
Questions draw the spotlight. The answers confirm your direction. The in-between is the transformation – the shift; it’s like a stepping stone to the answer, whatever that answer will be.
If the in-between is a shift, then there needs to be a mindset shift within you.
- Questions REFINE what you are searching for.
- Questions ILLUMINATE/HIGHLIGHT an interest or concern.
- Questions LEAD you to the next step.
