Have you ever heard of the saying “attitude of gratitude”?
Well, when you think about it, the attitude comes from your mindset. Hence, the gratitude mindset.
When you talk about gratitude, it seems to be almost taken for granted now. It’s become something we chat about, but do not really take to heart. Why?
It’s easy to count your blessings when things are good.
But what about during times of pain, hurt, sorrow, loneliness, helplessness, sickness, and hopelessness?
What is your attitude, then?
In order to adopt a gratitude mindset, you have to put forth the effort to be thankful for the blessings when the “hard knock life” sets in.
No reason to wait until everything is perfect, because you and I both know that progress is the focus.
With this being the week of Thanksgiving, why not practice the attitude of gratitude and make a mindset shift.

When was the last time you heard a sincere “thank you”?
Very rarely do we hear “thank you” with no strings attached. The expectations of what we want clashes with what we get. Therefore, most of us are wandering around with a chip on our shoulders.
Who needs all that extra weight? Seriously…. Dinner hasn’t even been served.
However, if you want to impact the world you touch, especially this Thanksgiving season, you need to make a gratitude mindset shift.
- SEE your day with HOPE-filled lenses. – Getting through your day doesn’t require you to be a jerk to others, let alone yourself. Even though times might be hard and you find yourself in a battle, look at your day and see what’s possible. “Hope isn’t created in your successes. It’s found and believed in the trenches.” ~ Kristianne Wargo
- DO for others what you want to be done for you. – Part of living with a gratitude mindset comes from doing unto others. You’ve heard of the golden rule. Why not serve more than ask? Why not give more than take? “Do to others as you would have them do to you. (Luke 6:31)”
- SHIFT from expectation to appreciation. – No matter how kind you are to others, your expectations can kill. Instead of constantly demanding and forcing yourself on other people’s thoughts and actions, start with a word of gratitude. Let them know what they mean to you. Then, you are setting the tone not just for their heart to receive, but for you to believe. Hard stuff can be done. You can get through whatever junk you’re dealing with.
See. Do. Shift.
“Thank you” does carry more weight. It puts a smile on your face, a skip in your step, and joy in your heart.
Start practicing that appreciation by sharing more of your gratitude this season.
