Always working and never resting. Vacation is an afterthought. “Atta girl” and “atta boy” only heard for those burning the candle at both ends.

So how is that working for you, your health, and your mental well-being?
It probably is working just fine to the point of what you know now. From today through the end of the year, life is going to get even crazier.
Between the candy and turkey, costumes and decorations, you must take care of yourself. Otherwise, what will happen?
You will end up sick and tired. Unable to do what you really want to doing this special time of the year.
So does busyness affect your health?
YES!!!!!!
Let’s look at what you can do to NOT fall into the trap, or maybe see what you are doing now that could be creating an unhealthy lifestyle for you.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Take care of YOU!!!
1. What part of your body is most affected by your busyness?
ADRENAL GLANDS
When you are working under stress and simmering in your busyness, your “fight or flight” is working overtime. You’re always at high alert. This means that your adrenal glands are flooding your body with cortisol and epinephrine.
2. If you are under stress, what area that you need to survive can become damaged?
BLOOD VESSELS
Chronic stress may raise your risk for heart attacks and strokes by increasing plaque buildup that clogs your arteries. You can also have high blood pressure. On top of that, the more you overuse your senses, they will dull overtime. And if you’re looking to lose weight, busyness is NOT for you. High cortisol keeps your body hanging onto fat. Bring on the weight.
3. No time for exercise, but lots of time for more work and activities. What are you subjecting yourself to?
HIGHER RISK OF CANCER and HEART DISEASE
Exercise is one of the best ways to prevent disease. If you’re sitting all day, with little to no intentional movement, you’re increasing your chances of heart disease, cancer, or a multitude of other diseases.
4. Will you get more sick with constant busyness and stress?
YES!
Burning your candle at both ends keeps your in a tired fog wearing your down and weakening your immune system. With a weakened immune system, your body is not ready for battle.
5. Time for a potty break! How does busyness affect your stools?
GIVE YOU DIARRHEA or CONSTIPATION
When you are constantly on the go, putting fires out, and being everything to everybody, your digestive system will respond. Either your bowels will move more quickly, or you won’t be going as consistently as before. Further, your body can have a challenging time accepting the nutrients you’re feeding it.
6. Got headaches? When you are so busy, where do your headaches come from?
TENSE MUSCLES
The stress that comes with busyness tenses up your muscles. Your body might react with a stiff neck, tight shoulders, a tight jaw, and migraines.
7. Women — when you work too much, how much will you increase your risk of cancer, heart diseases, diabetes, and more?
TRIPLE YOUR RISK
You are three times as likely to get diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc. working 60 or more hours majority of her schedule. Women have a higher risk because of not only the work done at work, but the responsibilities at home on top of those at work.
8. Can stress hinder you from having children?
YES
Stress hormones can mess with your reproductive system. In men, it can curb sperm production and lower testosterone levels. Women can have irregular cycles and less sexual desire when their bodies are swamped with stress.
9. What can you do to improve your health, performance, and mood?
TAKE BREAKS AND VACATIONS AND REST
Stop stuffing your schedule to the point of no room for breathing. If you are literally running from one thing to the next, this is your wake-up call. Make time for meditation and rest. Use your vacation even if it’s a stay-cation. Give yourself breaks throughout your day. Not only will this help you with your performance, but you will be happier and healthier.
Take your life seriously. Life deserves to be well-lived. So take care of the body God has given you.
If you’re not sure where to start, ask yourself this question… What can I give up today to give back more tomorrow?
