Instead of being overwhelmed and exhausted by the demands of the holidays, you can actually melt into the richness of relaxation and blissfulness. But one thing needs to change. You need to learn how to manage stress during the holidays.
That in itself can seem a daunting task just thinking about it. You barely have enough energy to get through your day, and now you have one more thing.

We need to look at ways to simplify our lives. But in order to understand how to simplify it, you need to know what complicates it.
So let’s start there…What is complicating your life?
“But how do I know what’s complicating life because everything complicates my life. In fact, I’m stressing out thinking about it. UGH!!!!”
4 “Complicating Clue” Factors
- Physical Fitness (How does it affect your body?)
- Emotions (How do you feel before, during, and after?)
- Appetite (How does your eating change?)
- Sleep (How does it affect your “nomal” sleep patterns?)
By knowing what stresses you out, you can then learn how to manage stress during the holidays. We can always talk generalities, but let’s get specific to your uniqueness.
Now that you know the stressors, “the complicating it’s”, you can create a plan to manage your stress.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Simplify and Amplify
- SIMPLIFY. Find the similarities in your stressors. This will help you simplify what’s stressing you out and how to deal with it (or Amplify it).
- AMPLIFY. (Choose one of the amplifications to manage your stressor.)
- Avoid it. (Just say NO! This is a way to eliminate the stressor.)
- Avoid the person/people that stress you out.
- Don’t go to the event.
- Control what you can.
- Alter it. (Change how you interact with the stressor.)
- Use different words to communicate.
- Change your holi-daily life.
- Compromise.
- Manage time better.
- Speak up how you feel.
- Adapt to it. (See it from a different perspective.)
- Release your control.
- Change up your perceived expectations. Stop having them.
- Reframe the problem.
- Look at the bigger picture.
- Love them where they’re at.
- Accept what it is. (Let it go. Some stressors can’t be changed.)
- Stop fussing over what you can’t change.
- Look for the positive.
- Avoid it. (Just say NO! This is a way to eliminate the stressor.)
One key way to manage stress during the holidays is ask yourself this question:
What gift of you can you give?
-
Love
-
Forgiveness
-
Gratitude
Be honest with yourself. Sometimes we create our own stress and make it bigger than it really needs to be. See people as God sees you. The stress might melt away even faster and the holidays will become more enjoyable. Merry Christmas!
