But Maundy Thursday goes even further, as the very name points us to a commandment (mandatum in Latin) given by Jesus to His disciples: to love one another, just as He has loved us. Jesus humbles Himself to wash the dirty feet of His disciples, serving those who would soon scatter in fear.
