Are you ready for a welcomed change? It’s summertime, and that means it’s time to engage and entertain your children your way. So turn off the alarm clock and get ready to make memories.
I absolutely LOVE summer. Probably, first because of the warmer weather. But then I get to have the kiddos home.

However, as parents, it can be challenging to keep your kids engaged and entertained throughout the summer months.
Now, I’m really grateful that I had my children during a different time. We didn’t have as many electronics to get in the way. Gaming was just up and coming. And cell phones didn’t become that awesome until about our third child was in high school.
So there was still hope for us surviving without the distractions and all.
Regardless of what you have in your home, there is hope that you can have a wonderful summer and not let your kids become jello.
Don’t fret about resorting to electronics or having your children spend too much time doing nothing. There are a few things you can do to not only keep your kids entertained but also to teach them valuable life skills.

Here are some tips that can help you raise your kids and have fun during the summer months:
1. Create a Daily Schedule: Though summer break is a time for kids to unwind and relax, it’s still essential to have a structure in place. Create a daily schedule that includes time for fun activities as well as educational ones. Set aside time for reading, writing, and math, but also give kids enough time to play games and spend time outdoors.
2. Encourage Outdoor Activities: Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors. Encourage kids to spend time outside by organizing exciting activities such as scavenger hunts, picnics, bike rides, and nature walks. These activities will not only keep kids physically active, but they’ll also learn about nature and improve their observation skills.
3. Teach Life Skills: You can use the summer break to teach kids valuable life skills such as cooking, basic home maintenance, and gardening. This will not only help them become more independent, but it’ll also introduce them to new hobbies and interests. These skills will prove valuable throughout their lives.
4. Take Day Trips: Summer is the ideal time to go on day trips to local museums, parks, and cultural sites. These trips are both educational and fun, giving kids something to look forward to while also learning more about their local area. You can also take them to nearby cities which can teach them about different cultures, music, and food.
5. Organize Fun Indoor Activities: There will be days when it’s too hot or rainy to spend time outdoors. Make sure you have a few fun indoor activities planned in advance, such as board games, card games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and STEM projects. These activities will help kids develop their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Summer is a beautiful season of opportunity for parents to teach valuable life skills to their kids while also having fun.
By creating a daily schedule, encouraging outdoor activities, teaching life skills, taking day trips, and organizing fun indoor activities, you can ensure that your kids have an enjoyable summer break while also learning new things.
PRAYER: May your enthusiasm for summer be life-giving for your children. See God’s beauty in the moments as you create your now.
