This verse is a call to resist the temptation to think and act like the world around us. Instead, we need to allow our minds to be transformed by God, His Word, and the Holy Spirit.

Yet, we must remember that the renewing of our mind is an ongoing process that requires intentional effort on our part.

And it’s not easy!

Just yesterday, I had to deal with some of the stresses of the world. And when I needed assistance, everything was closed, and no one acted like they had the information.

So after 2 hours and 40 minutes on hold, I was told that I couldn’t do anything until Monday.

Seriously?!?

The K.I.S.S. ~ Renew your mind!

Now I don’t know about you, but this was beyond frustrating. Not only can I not attempt to solve the problem on Monday, but I have to sit and wait to do nothing because I can’t because of the other problem.

Talk about a snowball situation, and a woman about to become unhinged.

This is real life. And God is real, too.

So I did my best to hold my tongue and remain ever so calm. I did it. But let me tell you, I had to renew my mind about 477 times to keep me in the state of where God wanted me.

Unfair. Unjust. But real.

Being who God wants us to be is NOT easy. We can read the Bible and understand every word, and every translation, but our humanness of us, is our stumbling block.

To renew your mind isn’t about changing political parties, attending a specific church, or reading particular books.

To renew your mind is to get your heart right with what God has, as your old self is left behind and your new self is born, so you can be more like your Creator.

You and I get to choose how we react or respond in life.

And so, I want to ask you if there is an area in your life that needs to be renewed in God’s way.

PRAYER: May you let down the walls that keep God out of the nooks and crannies you are ashamed of. You are meant for more by God’s standards. Don’t let your emotions betray God’s will for your life. Even though the road is less traveled, know that who walks with you has gone before you. God is good.
