We all search for that special someone to love us for the rest of our lives. But don’t you think they, too, want to be loved 100% of their lives? Love like you mean it!
The greatest feeling is love. We all want to feel loved. But how we feel it differs.

Our childhood experiences shape how we embrace certain emotions from specific actions. This can be very good for some, or extremely unnerving for others.
And from these experiences, you develop your “feelings”; the interpretation of your emotions. That’s the sticky part to your heart. That’s what you recall and then, how you define your feelings, like love.
In 1992, Gary Chapman wrote a book called The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate.
His message eventually took off and couples began paying attention to the five languages.
So what if you knew your spouse’s love language? Or what if your spouse had more than one love language?
The key here is to love like you mean it!
The K.I.S.S. ~ Love like you mean it!
Ultimately, Chapman wanted couples to get married and stay married. But there’s more to it than five love languages.
However, it’s definitely a place to start.
If you’re on the 20-yard line, and the goal is to go 80 yards down the field for a touchdown, you just can’t stay where you’re at.
You gotta get in the game of love! So let’s talk about the five love languages.
- Words of Affirmation – Everyone likes to feel appreciated, and your spouse is no exception. Show them that you are grateful for them by doing small things like leaving them a note of encouragement, or simply telling them how much they mean to you. A little appreciation can go a long way in making your spouse feel loved, appreciated, and affirmed. Your spouse feels loved when you tell them how much they mean to you and when you encourage them. So pause for a moment and give a compliment or words of encouragement.
- Quality Time – In today’s busy world, it’s easy to get caught up in work, social obligations, kid activities, and other responsibilities. But it’s important to make time for each other. Set aside a date night, go on a weekend getaway, or simply spend an hour talking and sharing your day with each other. Your spouse feels loved when you give them your undivided attention. Quality time together will strengthen your bond and help you connect on a deeper level.
- Receiving Gifts – If your spouse’s love language is Gifts, they feel loved and extra special when you give them a present, no matter how small. This could be a surprise bouquet of flowers, a piece of jewelry, or simply a love note. Showing your spouse that you are thinking of them with a thoughtful gift can make them feel loved and appreciated. And be creative. You don’t have to break the bank to love your spouse.
- Acts of Service – Actions speak louder than words, and nothing says “I love you” like a selfless act of service. Whether it’s cooking dinner, doing the dishes, or running an errand, these small acts of kindness can mean a lot to your spouse and show them that you are there for them. Your spouse feels loved when you do things for them. And if you don’t know what to do, simply ask this question. “What can I do for you today?” “How can I serve you?”
- Physical Touch – When you touch your spouse, it lights up their soul. This could be a hug, a kiss, or simply holding hands. Physical touch is be a powerful way to show your love and affection to your spouse.
Love is a powerful emotion which requires extreme effort and care to maintain and build up.
Love like you mean it; your spouse will feel it.
QUESTION: What can you do today to love your spouse?
“Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!“
