For many of us, the home is more than just a place to eat and sleep. It’s a place where we create memories, build traditions, and raise our children. So recharge and strengthen your family from the heart to home.
How well did you treat your family last year?

As you know, today is confession day. And whether we want to or not, it’s time to be honest with how we feel about our family.
It’s not about how much you love them, but, more importantly, how your heart is connected to them.
Life gets a little wild sometimes. And it doesn’t help when busyness is the continued honor by friends and family (your equals).
We, as parents, often put our hearts and soul into creating a warm and loving home for our family. It’s a big job, but it’s one that we attempt to do with love and joy in our hearts.
However, that’s not always our reality. When life happens, so do our tempers. We try to be considerate, yet selfishness does appear more often than not. Right?!? Listening to that radio station, WIIFM.
But in reality, you really want what’s in your heart to be connected to your home.
Why can’t your four walls exhibit who you are as an individual and as a parent? Why can’t the reflection be what you value as a family?
Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
So if you want those four walls to reflect your heart, lean in more than you stray away.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Lean in more than you stray away!
There is nothing more important on this earth than the gift of your family. And that means you have to work at it to enjoy it.
- Create a physical space that reflects your heart. This is your escape from reality. It’s also a safe place to be you 100% of the time, and opening the door for your kiddos to do the same. Joanne Miller wrote a book, Creating a Haven of Peace. Your home is a refuge.
- Magnify your time as a family. You must make time for your family. You cannot build relationships when you’re absent. “Presence is required within your four walls.”
- Grow in gratitude. This could be through small gestures like leaving little notes of encouragement or bringing home a favorite treat. It could also be through acts of service, like cooking a special meal or running errands for a loved one. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
When your heart is connected to your home, there is patience, understanding, and forgiveness.
But as you know, no family is perfect. There will be conflicts and challenges. Colossians 3:13 says, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
It’s important to remember that everyone makes mistakes. So approach problems with a heart of love and compassion. Ephesians 4:2 says, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
In the end, a heart-filled home is not about perfection, it’s about creating a place where everyone feels loved, supported, valued, seen, and heard.
It’s a place where you can grow and thrive as a family. As parents, it’s our greatest joy to give from our heart for the home creating a space filled with love, warmth, and happiness.
PRAYER: May your heart be reflected in your home daily. Be intentional in making time to see and listen to your children. Don’t forget the blessings amongst the messes. What your heart searches for, your actions recreate. From the heart to home, live, love and impact!
