Of course, you and I have been a child, and we are a child of God too. So that title never goes away.

As a child, we like to test our limits, and we want our own way. Just look at my grandson.

I’m sure you can remember a time when you disobeyed your parents, yet lived to tell about it; but at the same time, were fearful for your life.

God has big plans for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) He says it in the Old Testament and the New Testament. He wants what’s best for you.

On the other hand, you want what’s best for you.

It’s hard to see eye-to-eye. And then you want to prove them wrong.

I had an outpatient procedure that required general anesthesia, and after the procedure was completed, the doctor came in to discuss my results and the post-procedure instructions.

In very bold lettering, it read, “DO NOT DRIVE ANY MOTOR VEHICLE OR OPERATE DANGEROUS EQUIPMENT FOR 24 hours following the procedure.”

Here were clear written instructions, and I wanted to challenge them.

I should be walking in obedience.

The doctor and medical professionals know what anesthesia and all can do to you. But I want to show them otherwise. Now, I did not drive or operate any vehicle. However, I did try. But the family showed me otherwise.

Why is it that we go against the grain?

1. We are sinful creatures. We want it our way.
2. We think we know what’s best.
3. We think nothing is going to happen to us.

It all comes down to testing the waters.

So why not let God, who goes before you, test the waters and walk in obedience with Him?

Don’t you think He knows better?

You have got to be very cautious as to how you proceed in your every day, especially with major decisions.

CHALLENGE: Are you willing to let God’s reason stand true for this season?

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” ~ Galatians 5:25

CAUTION: Sometimes, we like to get ahead of God. You see what you want, and you go after it. That’s not a bad thing unless God has a better way.

“Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.” ~ Psalm 128:1

If God tells you not to drive, don’t you think He has a pretty good reason? It’s just like my doctor. He wants to keep me safe.

God wants what’s best for you.
