How you think about yourself is how you make decisions for your health and well-being. Let go of what doesn’t work, so you can reframe your shame and live a healthy lifestyle.
Mr. Rogers had a picture with the following line from the book, The Little Prince; “What’s essential is invisible to the eye.”

What matters you can’t always see. It goes much deeper; that is the key.
“What you think about, you live out.” ~ Kristianne Wargo
“Whatever thoughts lead your day, that is how you find your way. Whether right or wrong, you soon discover you must be strong. Life is not easy and can’t be redone. But if you lean into love, all the negative can be undone.” ~ Kristianne Wargo
You cannot care for yourself if you keep putting yourself down.
Shame is one of those things that you don’t mean to plant; it just grows and blossoms as you chant.
- I’m not good enough.
- I’ve never done anything right.
- I’ve only failed at losing weight.
- I can’t commit to a diet; I just give up.
- Life is too short to keep trying when failure is always the result.
This is real life. And real life hurts. But you don’t have to stay married to what isn’t working. You get to choose.
SHAME – a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior; a loss of respect, honor, or esteem.
When you look at yourself in the mirror, your reflection is not appealing. And so that builds the wall of shame.
If you want to jump the wall, you’ve gotta reframe your shame.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Reframe your shame!
This means that you don’t give power to what you can’t do, but lean into the choices that make an impact on what you can do.
To change the reflection, you must reframe your shame.
I want you to remove the focus on putting everyone else first and really take care of yourself. Drop the excuses that keep you from making the decisions that lead you to a healthier lifestyle.
One of those things is health check-ups.
This month is Breast Cancer awareness month. And in order to take care of those you love, you must take care of yourself first.
I am doing just that, too. You need to make sure you get a well check-up every year. Now the tests or labs you get will depend upon your age, your family history, and personal concerns.
Some of the ones you want to consider.
1. Blood Pressure Screening Monitor your blood pressure. This should happen every time you go to the doctor’s office.
2. Cholesterol Check Checking your cholesterol is used to assess your risk for developing heart disease or other things like a stroke.
3. Pap Smears This is important in checking for cervical cancer.
4. MammogramsA mammogram screens for breast cancer.
5. Bone Density Screening If you are over a half century, have a conversation with your doctor about having a bone density screening. This is vital when it comes to monitoring for osteoporosis.
6. Blood Glucose TestsDo you know your blood glucose levels? As you get older, your doctor may request this type of lab work so they can watch for pre-diabetes or diabetes.
7. Colon Cancer Screening Getting a colonoscopy is very important, especially if you have a family history. Be sure to ask your physician.
8. Body Mass IndexHave hard conversations about your weight. No one wants to talk about the number on the scale. Even though it’s not the only thing that determines the health of your body, it is one area of measurement.
9. Skin Examination Watch your skin and be sure to ask your physician about any irregular moles or places on your skin.
10. Dental CheckupGood dental health is important. Get your cleanings 2x a year.
Because these tests are considered preventive, many insurance plans cover them.
Empty out all the shame. Leave it in the dumpster. Then, really look at taking care of yourself.
