You need to take a break from beating yourself up. Look on the bright side.

There as so many things to be grateful for regardless of your circumstances.

I was out watering the plants; it’s been quite a scorcher here this week and getting hotter. So the plants needed some extra attention. While sweat began to bead on my back and nose, all of sudden there was a scurry and plop with water splashing me. A frog jumped from where I was watering into the pool. Both of us were startled, him more than me.

Soon I found myself giggling after a long day, and still more hours to put in, all the while feeling like a child in the middle of a big mess called life.

It was like I was chasing frogs when I was younger, because I couldn’t let the frog drown.

We can miss what’s right in front of us if we keep looking for what’s gone wrong. You can change everything, but you can change how you look at life in the moment.

How much emotional energy are you spending on the stuff that, in the big picture, matters, but in the small of it, it’s pointless?

• Don’t become overwhelmed by the emotions and feelings you’re simmering.
• Don’t let someone else’s stupidity wreck your hope for the day.
• Don’t be the person you complain about.
• Don’t play with fire because you know it burns.

Sometimes we just have to put on our big girl panties and face our day with humor and a child-like approach.

You get to be who you want to be today. So keep the mess at bay and find another way.

Look for tiny treasures.

I like to think of these as little blessings or surprises where God reminds us of His presence even in the midst of chaos.

Who would have thought a little frog would bring so much joy?

But it did. And maybe it’s a bird for you or a dust bunny under the chair. Never give in when you can give up to Him.
