Summer outdoor fun can lead to over-eating and underhydrating. Let the sun be your nutritional guide. Do right by your body.
How you care for your body comes from your daily choices and decisions.

And oh how it would be nice to have a body that performs and provides exactly as you see fit.
Unfortunately, your cells don’t work that way.
They see what you do with a different set of eyes. In fact that mitochondria (the powerhouses of your cells) have a lot of control over your energy. Because it takes your food and turns it to fuel for the cell. Remember, ATP back in biology?
But we have to remember, that how we treat our inside shows up on the outside.
If we want to enjoy every season, if you want to enjoy this summer, you gotta do right by your body which means do the right thing when no one is looking.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Do the right thing when no one is looking!
Because what really matters is that you are living your health for yourself.
“Live your health for yourself!” ~ Kristianne Wargo
Your health cannot be about your spouse, your children, or your job. It truly has to be for you.
Otherwise, you will derail more times than you can count, and that will lead to further frustration and deeper discouragement.
- COMMIT to what will stick. – Sometimes we get dragged into diets and eating plans that aren’t doable long-term. This causes quick quits and underwhelming results. Stop looking at what everyone else is doing, and commit to what will stick.
- EAT what’s in style. – Shop your farmer’s markets. If you eat what is in season, you’ll save money and your plate will be more colorful. And of course, remember to shop the outer perimeter of your grocery store.
- DRINK responsibly. – When you are outside in the heat, you’ve gotta understand that your cells need water, or you are drowning them with the wrong liquids.
“You repeat what you don’t repair.” ~ Kristianne Wargo
THE WATER REFRESH
2 cups cubed/triangled watermelon
½ cup shredded or sliced mint
Drizzle of balsamic vinegar
Pink Himalayan / Sea salt to taste
There seems to be plenty of watermelons this year. So why not do right by the body and enjoy the taste of summer; watermelon.
Watermelon is an anti-inflammatory fruit that helps to alkalize pH and then neutralizes acidic poisons while elevating joint health.
The red color is the heart-healthy antioxidant lycopene. You’ve probably heard of lycopene in tomatoes. But they can be acidic. So balance is key.
That balance comes from how you combine your food. With melon, the number one rule is “eat it alone or leave it alone.” Because otherwise, you might experience gas, bloating, and improperly digesting your meal.
Wait an hour, then eat the watermelon. And when you add the mint, you increase your antioxidant capacity, and your GI tract gets to enjoy the refreshing and soothing effects, all the while helping your bile production and flow.
CHALLENGE: What food will you try that’s new for your body?
