Life is complicated enough without trying to figure out how to have a blissful morning, but not wasting unnecessary energy on getting there. When attempting to be the best mother and raise my 5 children all under the age of 8, mornings were never my ROCKSTAR event. Most contained frustration and stress, all of which no one ever wants!
If only I could figure out a way to elevate my morning to blissfulness, that would be the hour of power worth living. After years of trial and errors, I finally discovered what really works. Incorporate these 9 actions to create your hour of power for a blissful morning.
1. AWAKE WITH VIGOR
Get up when you awake from sleeping. Don’t hit snooze. When your body naturally wakes up, get up! Hitting snooze is only slowing you down, causing you to feel more groggy. Thinking that a few more minutes will actually help you feel more awake is quite the opposite. That snooze is the drag. Wake up. Get up. Awake with vigor!
2. HYDRATE OFTEN
When sleeping, the body becomes dehydrated. After having slept for 6-7 hours on average (and maybe a little more), your body and mind needs quenching. Drink about 32 ounces of lemon water first thing. This is a great “pick me up” to revitalize the deprived body and jumpstart your day.
3. SPEAK POSITIVITY
Shout, or whisper loudly, a blissful statement bold and eagerly! A happy statement to ignite your day. This can be an affirmation, a scripture, a meditation, a devotion. Anything connecting your mind with your purpose, passion and presence giving your body permission to burst into action. This feeling of positivity with create energy for your day!
4. INTENTIONAL MOVEMENT
Jumping up and down is the best way to warming up the day. You must move in order to get the blood flowing. When time is limited, rely on basic, simple movements like jumping jacks, planks, squats, lunges and push ups. Give it all you’ve got with a few enthusiastic grunts and perform each move for 1 minute. Let the day begin!
5. NOURISH WITH REAL FOOD
Just like water, the body has been on a short fast. You have been sleeping without food for 6-7 hours; or some nights a couple hours extra. In order to get extraordinary results throughout your day, you must nourish your body with REAL food. Fresh berries, a good source of protein like eggs and a healthy fat like avocado. Not a lot, but a balance breakfast to begin replenishing your body’s nutrients. You need energy to perform at your best which comes from nutritious foods, leaving the processed foods behind.
6. LEAD WITH GRATITUDE AND QUIET
Nothing beats a morning than direction. Having direction comes from journaling your thoughts igniting your energy. Being grateful in the morning brightens the day too with an added spark from within. Gratitude erases lots of junk and gives you the freedom to create the day before any physical activity begins. Leading with gratitude and quiet creates a blissful morning.
7. PLAN AND PREP
Planning and prepping what you want to accomplish in your day gives you a success strategy. There’s no second guessing. Be specific as to the 3 must dos of the day. Then, relish every moment knowing the “list” will be conquered. No task left behind.
8. INCREASE WISDOM
Feeding the mind is as vital as nourishing the body. Take a few moments in the morning while getting ready to study, to listen to a podcast, or to read a chapter in a good book. The mind is less cluttered in the morning. Give the mind time to absorb all the possibilities of what you desire to learn, embracing your new wisdom.
9. SMILE
A blissful morning can’t be left without one essential action…a smile! Yes, a smile will let your optimism shine through. Take a silly frown and turn it upside down, and oops, there comes a smile!
Try incorporating these 9 actions in your morning routine. Don’t get bogged down by trying to do it all at once. Add in a few at a time and tweak to your liking. By investing in your morning, you will have more oomph in your day and a little more kick in your step. Reframe your morning chaos and create your hour of power for a blissful morning!

For me, waking up early is not a simple thing. I recommend setting only one alarm, and keeping an alarm clock away from your bed might make it easier to wake up in the morning. But finally, it’s all about you and your motivation.

Keeping an alarm clock away from the bed is awesome! I did that when I was in college. You really have to find what works for you. Thanks for sharing!
